Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

(50-90 Minutes)

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a structured trauma therapy that can help the brain process distressing experiences so they feel less emotionally overwhelming and less present in your everyday life.

EMDR at Sage & Cedar follows eight structured phases. We begin by understanding your history, identifying what you want to work on, and making sure you have the stabilization and coping skills necessary to feel grounded. Memory processing comes later, when you are ready.

You do not have to walk into therapy and immediately revisit your most painful experiences. We go at a pace that makes sense for you.

The length of EMDR treatment varies from person to person. A single, more contained traumatic experience may require less processing than experiences that were repeated, occurred over many years, or involved significant relationships. Rather than assigning a timeline at the beginning, we'll discuss your history, goals, and progress and determine together what treatment should look like for you.
